Mr. Md. Salah Uddin, Executive Director of Bangladesh Bank, assumed responsibility as the Administrator of Social Islami Bank PLC on November 5, 2025. Assisting him in this role are Bangladesh Bank’s Additional Directors Mr. Md. Rashedul Islam, Mr. Hammada Abdul Ati, Dr. Mohammad Bazlul Karim, and Joint Director Ms. Rowson Akter.

As part of the reform initiatives undertaken by Bangladesh Bank to ensure stability in the banking sector, establish good governance, safeguard the interests of depositors, and maintain public confidence in the overall banking system, this step has been taken. In line with this initiative, Bangladesh Bank has appointed the administrator at Social Islami Bank PLC as part of the process to merge five banks into the country’s largest Islamic bank.

Mr. Md. Salah Uddin and the officers appointed as his associates are highly experienced professionals in the country’s banking sector. They have previously served with distinction in various important positions at Bangladesh Bank and are recognized for their competence and integrity in their respective fields.

Under the leadership of the Administrator, initiatives will be taken to improve all key performance indicators of the bank and to protect the interests of depositors and clients. In this regard, the cooperation of all concerned is earnestly sought.

The 30th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Social Islami Bank PLC was held virtually on 18 August 2025. The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Bank Prof. M. Sadiqul Islam, PhD, FCMA chaired the meeting. Vice Chairman Mrs. Maksuda Begum along with Board of Directors, Chairman of the Shari’ah Supervisory Committee, Managing Director Mr. Shafiuzzaman, and distinguished shareholders participated in the meeting. Deputy Managing Directors of the Bank were also present. The Company Secretary of the Bank Mr. Md. Nazmul Ahsan, FCS conducted the meeting.

An agreement was signed between Social Islami Bank PLC and Ramada by Wyndham Cox's Bazar Kolatoli Beach on July 23, 2025 at the head office of the bank. Under this agreement, debit and credit cardholders of Social Islami Bank will enjoy discounts facilities ranging from 10% to 60% on various services at the Ramada.

In presence of Mr. Shafiuzzaman, Managing Director of Social Islami Bank, the agreement was signed by Mr. Mohammad Wahiduzzaman, Head of the Bank’s Card Division, and Major (Retd.) Iqbal Hossain, Advisor of Ramada by Wyndham Cox's Bazar Kolatoli Beach. Among others Mr. Md. Nazmus Saadat, Deputy Managing Director and Mr. Mamun Mahmud, Deputy Managing Director of Social Islami Bank, were also present in the program.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed between Social Islami Bank PLC and the National Pension Authority on 14 July 2025 at the conference room of the Finance Division, Ministry of Finance. The MOU was signed with the aim of facilitating smooth registration, contribution collection, and API operations under the Universal Pension Scheme operated by the National Pension Authority.

Dr. Md. Khairuzzaman Mozumder, Finance Secretary, was present at the event as the Chief Guest. The MoU was signed by Mr. Md. Mahiuddin Khan, Executive Chairman of the National Pension Authority, and Mr. Shafiuzzaman, Managing Director of Social Islami Bank PLC. This agreement will help make public participation in the Universal Pension Scheme more accessible and ensure the expansion of its technology-driven operations. Social Islami Bank PLC is always committed to supporting the government’s development initiatives, and this MOU is a reflection of that commitment.

Social Islami Bank PLC. and Bangladesh Specialized Hospital PLC. have signed a corporate agreement on May 18, 2025. Under this agreement, SIBL cardholders, officials, employees, and their family members will enjoy various benefits including a discount facility of 10% to 20% on different services of Bangladesh Specialized Hospital PLC.

In presence of Mr. Md. Nazmus Saadat, Deputy Managing Director of Social Islami Bank, Mr. Mohammad Wahiduzzaman, Head of the Card Division of Social Islami Bank, and Dr. Ahmed Zahid Hossain, Managing Director of Bangladesh Specialized Hospital signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organizations.

The signing ceremony was also attended by Mr. Md. Salim Ullah, Manager of SIBL’s Shyamoli Branch, senior executives of the hospital, and high officials from both organizations.
