Social Islami Bank held its 93rd Shari’ah Supervisory Committee meeting on 4 March at the bank’s head office. Chairman (Current Charge) of Shari’ah Supervisory Committee Mufti Abdullah Masum presided over the meeting. The Member Secretary of the Committee Mufti Abu Bakar Siddique Nabil, Committee Members Prof. Dr. Md. Shamsul Alam, Prof. Dr. M. Masud Rahman, Dr. Md. Rafiqul Islam, Mufti Zubair Abdullah and Barrister Md. Mahfuzur Rahman (Milon) were present in the meeting. Managing Director (Acting) Md. Nazmus Saadat and Head of Shari’ah Supervisory Committee Secretariat Syed Joynul Abedin and other senior executives were also present at the event.

On Friday, February 28, 2025, Social Islami Bank PLC (SIBL) Chairman Professor Dr. M. Sadiqul Islam, FCMA handed over a cheque of Tk. 36 lakh to Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan, PhD, for scholarships dedicated to supporting underprivileged students with special needs. The ceremony, held at the Dhaka University Alumni Association's Alumni Floor, was attended by key dignitaries, including SIBL’s Acting Managing Director Md. Nazmus Saadat.
Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan, in his keynote speech, praised Social Islami Bank's commitment to supporting financially challenged students despite the bank's current financial struggles. He acknowledged the leadership's efforts in overcoming difficult times to restore the bank's stability. "Their presence here is a testament to their dedication to the well-being of students," he remarked.
SIBL Chairman Professor Dr. M. Sadiqul Islam, FCMA expressed heartfelt gratitude for the opportunity to contribute to this noble cause. He highlighted the challenges faced by rural students who often cannot afford their expenses and are forced to leave their education unfinished. "If everyone fulfilled their social responsibility, no student would have to return home," he stated. He also emphasized the bank’s resolve to support students even amidst financial difficulties, following the massive embezzlement of funds in the past. He encouraged the Alumni Association to create a fund for underprivileged students, assuring the bank's continued support.
In his remarks, Acting Managing Director Md. Nazmus Saadat shared the bank’s struggle to regain its position after being taken over by a special force under the previous autocratic government. He stressed the importance of collective efforts to eradicate corruption in the country. He also praised the Alumni Association’s renewed vigor and expressed SIBL’s intention to continue supporting deserving students.
Scholarship recipient Zakaria, a student of Bijoy Ekattor Hall, expressed his gratitude, stating, “This financial support keeps our hopes alive, and I thank them for this effort. I aim to help other underprivileged students in the future, Insha Allah.”

Social Islami Bank PLC (SIBL) hosted its Agent Banking Conference 2025 at the bank’s head office on February 26, 2025. The event was attended by the Chief Guest, Md. Nazmus Saadat, Acting Managing Director of the bank, and chaired by Mr. A.A.M Habibur Rahman, Deputy Managing Director. Moshiur Rahman, Head of the Agent Banking Division, along with other senior officials, also participated. Representatives from 377 agent outlets across the country joined virtually.

Social Islami Bank PLC has opened its 238th Sub-branch, the "Borabo Sub-Branch," at Narayanganj with modern banking facilities. Md. Nazmus Saadat, Managing Director (Acting) of the bank was present as the Chief Guest. The program was chaired by Md. Ashraful Hasan, Manager of the Bhulta Branch, and attended by senior executives of the bank, including Mohammad Mosleh Uddin, EVP and Head of Logistics Support Division, Mohammad Abdul Karim, SVP and Head of Marketing and Brand Communication Division, Mohammad Shakil Anwar, SVP and Head of Branches Control Division, along with local business people, and prominent individuals.
The chief guest, Md. Najmus Saadat, stated that with the support of the central bank and under the leadership of the present board of directors, the operations of Social Islami Bank have returned to normal. Trust among customers has been restored, and a balance between deposits and withdrawals has been established in most of the branches of the bank. He expressed optimism that this new Sub-branch in Borabo, Narayanganj would fulfill the banking needs of the local community.

Social Islami Bank PLC has inaugurated its 181st branch, the "Keshorhat Branch" in Rajshahi on February 24, 2025, as part of its journey toward excellence, offering modern banking services to the local community. The grand opening ceremony was graced by esteemed dignitaries, including the bank's honourable Chairman, Professor Dr. M. Sadiqul Islam, FCMA, as the chief guest, Maksuda Begum, the bank's Vice-Chairman and Husne Ara Shikha, Executive Director of Bangladesh Bank, Rajshahi as special guest. The event was presided over by Md. Nazmus Saadat, the bank's Acting Managing Director. The ceremony also saw the presence of senior bank executives, local businessmen, and distinguished community members.
Professor Dr. M. Sadiqul Islam, FCMA, said that with the help of Bangladesh Bank and trust of the customers SIBL has turned around. He mentioned that the bank has successfully implemented good governance across all levels and has restructured its Shariah Board, ensuring that customers receive fully Shariah-compliant banking services. He added that Shariah-based banking is beneficial to all class of community.
Maksuda Begum, Vice-Chairman of the bank, shared her optimism about the bank’s recovery, stating that Social Islami Bank has emerged stronger after overcoming past challenges. As a people's bank, the bank is now providing seamless banking services to marginalized communities.
Husne Ara Shikha, Executive Director of Bangladesh Bank, Rajshahi, acknowledged Social Islami Bank’s reputation as a reliable financial institution. She expected that SIBL will be able regained its normal banking activity soon.
Md. Nazmus Saadat highlighted that the bank now offers a full range of services, including bill payments, BEFTN, RTGS, Internet Banking, and more. He expressed confidence that the local community, especially businesses and people from all sectors, would benefit from the banking services at the new branch.
