Sammilito Islami Bank PLC is a state-owned Islami bank formed through the transfer of all assets and liabilities of EXIM Bank PLC, Social Islami Bank PLC, First Security Islami Bank PLC, Global Islami Bank PLC and Union Bank PLC. To strengthen the bank’s capital base, a capital structure of BDT 35,000 crore has been arranged, comprising BDT 20,000 crore from the Government and BDT 15,000 crore from depositors.

One of the bank’s key challenges at present is to ensure swift and effective collection and recovery against classified and overdue investments. Giving the highest priority to recovery is essential to protect the interests of a large number of depositors and enhance the bank’s capacity to repay their deposits.

Against this backdrop, the Bank has formed a dedicated “Collection & Recovery War Room” to centrally coordinate, monitor and oversee all collection and recovery activities. The initiative aims to accelerate the recovery of classified and overdue investments, maximize all available recovery opportunities, ensure close monitoring and regular follow-up of large borrowers, and take prompt legal or other effective measures where necessary. Ultimately, the initiative is expected to strengthen the Bank’s liquidity position and enhance its capacity to repay depositors.
